Dossier
The black coating is a thin borosilicate glass. When it sees plasma it films into a rainbow — oil-slick colour, not paint. This one has the sheen on three sides, not a corner. The reverse is still factory: red RTV, catch-pins, felt insulation. That is the back of the heat shield, not beach wear. Ship 33 flew with about 18,500 hex tiles. Most of those burned, sank, or came back as chips. One hundred and forty-one intact tiles were recovered here. This is one of three iridescent lots currently listed, and the strongest rainbow of the three. Truncated hex. 498.6 g. Photographed on the stand in the studio, with a hundred for scale.
Silica ceramic. Do not cut, sand, or wet-saw. Handle over a padded surface. Wash hands after handling. Not a toy.
